Longest ride of my life on Triumph Tiger
My bike ride back to Mumbai was not only adventurous but also one of the longest rides of my life on Tiger Triumph. Covering a distance of over 1000 kilometers in one stretch is not only scary but also dangerous. I would not suggest amateur or inexperienced riders try this.
Things to do in Kerala
My experience riding from Mumbai to Kerala through Goa and Karnataka was a roller-coaster ride. Kerala truly is God’s own country. Right from landscapes to beaches, it is a perfect mix of natural beauty and ecological diversity. Four reasons why Kerala is my favourite destination:
Beaches – Varkala, Kovalam, Alappuzha, and Kozhikode, are some of the famous beaches in Kerala. Muzhappilangad is a drive-in beach that I would certainly like to visit on my next visit to South India.
Houseboats – Living in the houseboats on the backwaters of Alleppey is a dream. People from all over the world come to visit this paradise.
Hill stations – Kerala has several popular hill stations like Munnar, Wayanad, Ponmudi among others, which bring one closer to nature.
Food – Other than being blessed by Mother Nature, Kerala also has some delicious food. It is heaven for non-vegetarian food eaters. I tried the Kerala biryani, and it was one of the best biryanis I have ever tasted.
Kerala to Coimbatore Road Trip
The original plan was to ride until the roads ended, unfortunately, due to some issues I had to cut short my trip and head back home. I left for Coimbatore in the morning, travelled a distance of approximately 300 kilometers. I took proper rest as I knew the next day was going to be a long one.
Kerala to Tamil Nadu
I decided not to take the coastal route back home, as the roads were bad and longer. Riding from Kerala to Tamil Nadu was adventurous. There were a lot of jungles. The roads were not exactly meant to accelerate on, and there were frequent signs on the road which said ‘Wildlife Crossing’.
If I was not in a rush, there were stunning things to do in Tamil Nadu that I have added to my bucket list. The top three places to visit in Tamil Nadu are:
Dhyanalinga Adiyogi
The Adiyogi Shiva statue is a 112 ft steel statue of the god Shiva at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It was established to inspire people towards inner well-being, through yoga. I would’ve taken the road to this beauty if I didn’t have to go back to Mumbai.
Kanyakumari
Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu is literally India’s land’s end in the south. It is a popular tourist destination in India. People say the sunrise, sunsets, and moonrise sights are spectacular from here. Since it lies at the tip of India, it witnesses the confluence of the Arabian sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean.
Thiruvalluvar Statue
Thiruvalluvar Statue stands tall on a pedestal at a height of 41 meters. The whole statue has been sculpted manually, including the facial details. Tourists take a small ferry ride to visit one of the wonders of India. The gigantic statue that touches the sky in the middle of the ocean has deep meanings that you read here.
Tamil Nadu to Mumbai
Tirupur to Mumbai is approximately 1200 kilometers. I started my journey at 4am. I was almost about to enter the route that runs through a jungle when the officials asked me to stop until the sun was up. I was infuriated because it beat my purpose of starting the ride as early as possible. They wasted my 2 hours until they finally let me through.
Deadly Ride
But it wasn’t long before I realised why everything happens for a reason. Riding through the dense forest, the roads looked like they just wouldn’t end. Even though it was early in the morning, it seemed dark because of the density of the trees. I was the only human in the middle of the jungle.
This was a terrifying place to be in alone. If my bike broke down or if something happened to me, I would be stranded here for days only to be some wild animal’s meal. Literally riding for my life feels like this.
By the time I entered Mumbai, I started hallucinating and sleeping with my eyes open. If you have gone for long rides or drives, you can relate when I say riding is muscle memory. Somehow I managed to reach home in 22 hours after riding 1200 kilometers and taking only 2 halts on the way.
India offers something different to its tourists. With its natural beauty and its history steeped in mythology. I can’t wait to explore southern India state-wise. If you have any suggestions where I should start, leave them in the comments below.
