Bangalore to Mumbai Bike Ride on Kawasaki z650.
Life is all about having experiences and sharing them. It teaches us things every day. This is very similar to riding. Riding is always exciting whether solo or in a group. It teaches you and no two rides are ever going to be the same, even on the same roads. Solo riding is a little risky as compared to group riding. Here is my journey of Bangalore to Mumbai Bike Ride on Kawasaki z650.
Follow this link to read my journey from Mumbai to Bangalore and this one to watch the vlog on YouTube. My vlogs may make the journey look easy, but riding solo is tougher than it looks. This Bangalore to Mumbai solo bike ride of 1000 kilometers has been one of the toughest experiences.
I was riding my Kawasaki z650 for this trip, and had already covered a distance of 1000 kilometers to get to Bangalore. The final stage of the game, getting back home, was 18 hours long and another 1000 kilometers away.
My stay in Bangalore was a short but hectic one. I had a lot of meet-ups, rides and activities lined up, while having to manage record videos and edit and upload vlogs.
Ride to Devarayanadurga Hills, Tumkur
The plan was to meet the troupe at 7AM at a common spot and then leave together from there. The ride was lead by Ajit, who was a local from Bangalore so he knew the roads well. However, as usual, my schedule got the best of met and it was only after 7:30 that I left from my hotel Treebo Almas.
I had not really expected such a huge number of riders already waiting for me, and it was overwhelming. In excitement, we left for Devarayanadurga Hills. It took us approximately 4 hours to get there, including a break of 30 minutes in between.
Devarayanadurga Hills are beautiful curvy roads that lead to a Hindu temple on the top of the hill near Tumkur, Karnataka. The roads were full of monkeys and far-reaching views as we got higher.
Things to do in Bangalore
If I had a little more time in hand, I would’ve loved to explore this Silicon Valley of India. Bangalore is a huge city with never-ending things to explore, right from parks to historical sites, temples and waterfalls. Some of the top sights in Bangalore are Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Cubbon Park, Bangalore Palace, Bannerghatta Biological Park and Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace to name a few.
Bangalore to Mumbai Bike Ride
I left for Mumbai at around 7:30 in the morning. I had planned to leave earlier, but my body was way too tired to move. Somehow, I managed to pack and leave as early as possible.
Learn from my mistakes, and remember to rest yourself well before a long ride. My body was under immense pressure. I was sleep-deprived, tired and had to be awake for the next 15 hours or so for this Bangalore to Mumbai bike ride.
The sun made me feel woozy, so, I decided to take a tea break. Washed my face, grabbed a bite and got back feeling slightly better. But that didn’t last long, and I was back to feeling dizzy and it just kept getting worse.
This was risky now. The road was endless and my mind couldn’t take it. Luckily it was lunchtime, so I took a long break to have some lunch, rest before getting back on the highway. Little did I know that this was just the beginning.
Bangalore to Mumbai Ride to Remember
We’re all aware of what happens when you’re tired, and you eat some food. You guessed it right, you feel sleepy. So now my dizziness turned to sleepiness. I didn’t know what was worse.
Few kilometers down the road, I realized my eyes are way too heavy to keep them open. In fact there were moments I didn’t remember when and how I got so far. My mind was subconsciously handling the bike, and applying brakes or throttle or overtaking trucks. This is very common on big straight roads and highways.
This is scary when you’re alone. I played some music, think good thoughts, tell stories, started talking to myself, but nothing seemed to help. I pulled over in an open spot under a big tree, and decided to take a nap.
Suddenly, I opened my eyes to see a strange man walking towards my bike and trying to steal my stuff. I woke up with a shock and found out that there was no one just an empty highway and cars and trucks flying by.
I realised that my mind has started playing tricks with me due to lack of sleep and rest. I waited there for a few minutes. Then got up and sprinkled water on my face did some workout to energise myself to try and get rid of my godforsaken sleep.
After a few more kilometres down the road, a new problem kicked in. My stomach started to grumble and this didn’t feel right. Slowly pain kicked in and I knew I needed a washroom break. Now this is another serious issue to deal with on road trips.
Usually, fuel stations allow passengers to use their washrooms. But my trip was bound to be one with twists and turns. I stopped at a fuel station to use the washroom, and a guy politely directed me towards it. On the way, the manager or someone with authority jumped out of his cabin and started yelling at me that there is no washroom.
I saw some other guy walk out from the washroom wiping his wet hands. I requested the manager to let me go to the washroom as it is very urgent. The pain kept getting worse but he was not in a mood to listen.
After arguing for what felt like an eternity, he finally let me use the loo and saved the day. I realized that the washroom was meant for the workers at the petrol station only and not for outsiders or passengers. But I have been to petrol stations before who have washrooms and they also let travellers use that if they needed. Is it fair to keep washrooms only for staff and not travellers? I don’t think so.
The next few hours were comparatively manageable and I reached Hotel Goa Ves. If you’ve read my previous blog, you’ll know I took a halt here on my way from Mumbai to Bangalore.
As I was leaving the restaurant, I met two of my subscribers, talked to them and went off again. It started getting dark, but I was motivated more than ever to get home. After a treacherous ride of almost 19 hours I finally braked my bike for the last time under my building and called it a day.
Usually when I get home, I record my closing scenes, edit and upload my vlog. And this ride took a toll on me, but I still did for my kick-ass subscribers who wait for my vlogs. I must’ve conked off in 2 seconds, and woke up after 12 hours.
So, this was all about my experience while returning back from Bangalore to Mumbai. If you liked it, please share your views and ideas in the comments section below. I will keep bringing such interesting stories for you.
